Music & Yumday Monday: M.I.B

I feel like M.I.B is severely underrated so I am making today special. Not only will we have a yumday we'll also have a music day. I'm so considerate. I know. Let's begin!

Check out these MVs. I think Chisa Bounce is my favorite because it gets in my head and stays there but it is hard to choose. Beautiful Day was released predebut but it was the first song released by a member (5Zic) of M.I.B so I wanted to feature it. Also, it is an awesome song.

I think that four songs is enough to get you started. You should check out each individual member's stuff too.

Yumday time! I'll start with the youngest and work my way up.

SIMS!

I really like his hair.

Young Cream! What is it with men and eyeliner? Seriously.

You shouldn't look at us like that. Not right.

5Zic. Sigh.

Aaaah! Too much hot!

5Zic gets three pictures because look.

Kangnam! He is man pretty.

Ahem.

Well, there you have it! Not only did you get to listen to awesome music you also got to look at handsome men. You're welcome. What do you think of M.I.B?

Yumday Monday: Lee Dong Wook

I don't know where to begin. I'm looking for good pictures of Lee Dong Wook but my eyes just go straight to his lips. Then they start glazing over and I can't think clearly. Sorry if these aren't the best pictures but you know that Lee Dong Wook's lips will look awesome!

I don't have to say anything right? Like, it is obvious why Lee Dong Wook was chosen for Yumday Monday. Just look at him!

You know what? I have had a hard time thinking of a recipe that goes with Lee Dong Wook so I thought to myself let's do an alcoholic beverage! Yes self. Alcohol is always good. I went back and forth trying to think of a drink that goes with Lee Dong Wook or one of his characters and finally thought of a rum and coke. It is a strong, sweet beverage just like his character in Blade Man. It will hit you by surprise if you have too many as well!

What you will need:

10 oz. glass
3oz. Coca-Cola
1.5 oz. Rum
Lime Wedge Optional

What to do:

Pack your glass with ice then build your drink!

Yumday Monday: Yeon Woo Jin

It's Monday again! Yay? To make us feel a little bit better let's look at a handsome man and eat or at least imagine eating something yummy! I know I won't have creme brulee any time soon but it is nice to look at the pictures of it!

I've been watching "Marriage, Not Dating!" (For the second time. Ahem.) so I've had Yeon Woo Jin on my mind. His character seems cold and charismatic but he's actually a big, goofy softie with a warm heart. It's fun watching his relationship progress and see his little quirks. Plus he is just nice to look at. So let's look at him!

Just look at that smile! I grin like a crazy person whenever I see it.

Black looks good on you, Yeon Woo Jin!

I love this look too. Perfect for fall! Why is your mouth so perfect Woo Jin?

I think he is waiting for us. We're coming, Woo Jin!

Since I've been watching "Marriage, Not Dating!" I decided to think of something yummy to go with Yean Woo Jin's character Gong Gi Tae and came up with creme brulee! When I think of creme brulee I think of it served in an individual dish, all alone just like Gi Tae wanted to be most of the drama. Creme brulee also has a hard, slightly bitter exterior with a sweet, warm inside. Gi Tae is just a goofy romantic hidden under a tough exterior and Woo Jin does a great job portraying that.

I got my creme brulee recipe from Alton Brown who is just awesome in my opinion. I've never made a bad recipe from him. Here you go!

Ingredients
1 quart heavy cream
1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
1 cup vanilla sugar, divided
6 large egg yolks
2 quarts hot water
Directions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

Place the cream, vanilla bean and its pulp into a medium saucepan set over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat, cover and allow to sit for 15 minutes. Remove the vanilla bean and reserve for another use.

In a medium bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup sugar and the egg yolks until well blended and it just starts to lighten in color. Add the cream a little at a time, stirring continually. Pour the liquid into 6 (7 to 8-ounce) ramekins. Place the ramekins into a large cake pan or roasting pan. Pour enough hot water into the pan to come halfway up the sides of the ramekins. Bake just until the creme brulee is set, but still trembling in the center, approximately 40 to 45 minutes. Remove the ramekins from the roasting pan and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 3 days.

Remove the creme brulee from the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes prior to browning the sugar on top. Divide the remaining 1/2 cup vanilla sugar equally among the 6 dishes and spread evenly on top. Using a torch, melt the sugar and form a crispy top. Allow the creme brulee to sit for at least 5 minutes before serving.

PROPANE GAS TORCH SAFETY: Propane gas torches are highly flammable and should be kept away from heat, open flame, and prolonged exposure to sunlight. They should only be used in well-ventilated areas. When lighting a propane gas torch, place the torch on a flat, steady surface, facing away from you. Light the match or lighter and then open the gas valve. Light the gas jet, and blow out the match. Always turn off the burner valve to "finger tight" when finished using the torch. Children should never use a propane gas torch without adult supervision.

So what do you think about Yeon Woo Jin? I think I need to watch some more of the stuff that he has been in. As I was researching for this post I noticed some pretty adult things. Am I mature enough for that? Probably not. Ha ha! Will you be making or enjoying creme brulee any time soon?

Yumday Monday

Most of us need a little cheering up on Mondays. It is the beginning of the school and/or work week and it is not fun to go back after a nice weekend. If you're anything like me that weekend was spent in drama land and who would want to leave that place? So, to cheer us all up a bit I decided to make Monday yumday. I'm going to feature a yummy man and a recipe I think suits him.

For my first yumday Monday we have Han Jung Soo who is acting as Secretary Ko in Blade Man. Jung Soo is doing an excellent job as Secretary Ko and has made me swoon multiple times. I just love him. He has also been in Arang and the Magistrate, Chuno, and Poseidon just to name a few. So without further ado, the yummy Han Jung Soo!

You're so sweet, Han Jung Soo! Flowers for me?

Obviously thinking about how much he misses me.

Don't look at me with those eyes, Han Jung Soo!

I mean. What is my name again?

You're so awesome and you know it. Roar!

Now what dish reminds me of Han Jung Soo? When I look at him I picture him eating a lot of protein because he is so built. I imagine he doesn't eat a lot of sweets because he wants to take care of the muscles he worked so hard to get. But you know what? There are ways to indulge yourself without compromising your body, Han Jung Soo! To me Han Jung Soo seems like a sweet guy with some surprises up his sleeve so I present to you Deep-Dish Cookie Pie courtesy of Chocolate Covered Katie. I have tried this recipe myself and it is awesome especially given the (surprise) fact that it is made with garbanzo beans. Who would have thought?

Ingredients

2 cans white beans or garbanzos (drained and rinsed) (500g total, once drained)
1 cup quick oats (or certified-gf quick oats)
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
3 tbsp oil (canola, veg, or coconut)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 and 1/2 cups brown sugar (EDIT: click for a Sugar-Free Cookie Pie.)
1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions

Blend everything (except the chips) very well in a good food processor (not a blender). Mix in chips, and pour into an oiled pan (I used a 10-inch springform pan, but you can use a smaller pan if you want a really deep-dish pie.) Cook at 350F for around 35-40 minutes. Let stand at least 10 minutes before removing from the pan. (Some commenters have had success with a blender, but I did not. Try that at your own risk, and know the results will be better in a high-quality food processor such as a Cuisinart.)

I quote Chocolate Covered Katie, "Perhaps calling it “healthy” is a stretch. After all, there’s still sugar, and there are still chocolate chips. But in comparison to your standard cookie pie—with its plethora of butter, eggs, and white flour—the above version is a much healthier alternative, while still tasting just as naughty. Plus, you get lots of fiber and protein from the oats and chickpeas." Also, she has a recipe for a sugar free version as seen above.
